Intergalactic Space Jungle – Impact Report

Intergalactic Space Jungle was a MakerWorld project delivered over the 2023 summer holidays featuring the amazing Celestial Sound Cloud. Young people and their families were invited to take part in a series of space-themed sculpture, light and sound workshops, culminating in a final exhibition at the Piazza Centre in Huddersfield. Drumming, music and dance workshops were also offered to visitors through Kirklees Year of Music 2023.

The project was supported by the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme.


17 workshop sessions delivered – 4 in Dewsbury & 13 in Huddersfield

Insights

Children from 6 months to 17 years took part in the workshops. The average child’s age was 7 years old.

Families came from every corner of Kirklees, with 10% coming from outside the district.

48% were engaging with MakerWorld for the first time.
