MakerWorld Dewsbury offers free, drop-in creative sessions for children and families, using storytelling, play, and hands-on making to boost confidence and wellbeing with no cost barrier. But we need your help! That’s why we’ve started a crowdfund (which closes on 8 December).
Between November 2023 and May 2026, we delivered 56 sessions and hosted 2,775 child visits (averaging ~50 children per session), demonstrating strong engagement from ethnically diverse communities and high repeat attendance.
Originally piloted with National Lottery Community Fund support, the programme is now sustained through grants, giving, and local funding. It forms part of the #OurDewsbury Cultural Development Programme and 2026 Arts Trail, driving town centre cultural regeneration.
To address the winter need for warm, free indoor family spaces, funding is badly needed to allow a 12-week block of Saturday workshops from January to end of March 2027, covering staffing, materials, and essential heating utilities.
This project directly benefits around 400 children, young people, and their families through free, participatory creative activities in Dewsbury town centre.
Please support the project here. Your support is greatly needed and gratefully appreciated.
