We’re delighted to be involved in this year’s Holmfirth Arts Festival. We’ve been working with our regular art clubs at Holmfirth Tech to create costumes and puppets for the parade, which is being organised by 6 million + and uses the work of Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko as a reference point.
The theme of this year’s festival, which takes place over the weekend of 15-16 June, is “flow” and is the first year of a planned three-year programme of activity inspired by the River Holme which flows through the Pennines (the backbone of England) and plays a fundamental role in the area’s historical development, economic growth and cultural identity.
This is the fifth time we’ve been involved in the festival and we absolutely love being part of the parade, an event that brings the whole community together. We really want to encourage entire families to get involved (our parents often tell us how surprised they are by how much they enjoy getting creative).
