The Children’s Art School is hosting a symposium on Friday 25 October, 2-6pm, aimed at bringing together key business and cultural stakeholders in the reanimation of Huddersfield town centre.
The symposium will take place at MakerSkate in the Piazza Centre.
The event will see local businesses, cultural leaders and community members exploring innovative approaches to urban regeneration.
Highlights of the symposium include:
- “Imagining Huddersfield 2050” – a creative exploration by Chol Theatre
- Screening of the “Makerworld” documentary, followed by Q&A session with filmmaker Maire Tracey
- Expert speakers and facilitated workshops
- Networking sessions
The symposium will address crucial themes such as imagining the future of town centres through a cultural lens, the role of culture in supporting local businesses, and collaborative opportunities for town centre stakeholders.
“Town centre plans often focus on infrastructure and economics,” said Chloe Williams, The Children’s Art School founder, “We want to explore what happens when you put people at the heart of the vision. The work MakerWorld is doing with the existing cultural community in the Creative Piazza, is helping create vibrant, sustainable spaces that truly serve our community. This symposium is a step towards reimagining Huddersfield’s town centre as a dynamic hub where culture and commerce can thrive together.”
