Intergalactic Space Jungle was a MakerWorld project delivered over the 2023 summer holidays featuring the amazing Celestial Sound Cloud. Young people and their families were invited to take part in a series of space-themed sculpture, light and sound workshops, culminating in a final exhibition at the Piazza Centre in Huddersfield. Our Biennale is a festival of arts and culture made with children and young people in Kirklees.

Produced by the Kirklees Local Cultural Education Partnership, Evoke, Our Biennale is led by The Children’s Art School. Partners from Evoke collaborate with young people, artists, cultural organisations, and teachers in Kirklees to co-create this amazing festival for the whole community.

Making, imagining and playing led by artists and practitioners to encourage creative play and take our Maker World offer out into Kirklees communities. Our Biennale took from between September 2020 – June 2021 and involved over 2000 children and young people 18 schools, 2 x 6th form colleges, 5 youth groups and concluded in an amazing exhibition in 6 units around the Piazza shopping centre in June 2021. Holmfirth Arts Festival 2020 Sadly due to the pandemic we were unable to deliver a parade for Holmfirth Arts Festival this year as planned. The parade, supported by Woven In Kirklees, had aimed to focus on the Earth, exploring and celebrating nature aswell as the role of humans in protecting it. Working with Liz Walker

As part of Woven The Children’s Art School was asked to deliver the Future Fashion Challenge project to Kirklees schools for the festival. We worked with 16 schools and 500 children to deliver artist led workshops developing innovative ideas into wearable outcomes for a fabulous catwalk show at University of Huddersfield on June 15th The

The animation is based around memories of local people who shared their stories about Hope Bank Pleasure Gardens in Honley. Many of the children came to our classes when we were based at Hope Bank and were particularly interested in it’s history. A big thank you to Kirklees Film Makers and Sharing Memories.
