January 2020 is proving an exciting time for The Children’s Art School with our launch of MakerWorld in Huddersfield town centre. This project has been made possible by the generous support of One17 Charitable trust.
Based in the old Outdoor World shop in the Piazza Shopping Centre we are opposite Huddersfield Art Gallery and in a great position to engage with children and families visiting Huddersfield town centre. Our activities there aim to support Kirklees Councils regeneration plan to turn the area into the ‘cultural heart’ of Huddersfield. The space is also home to Chol Theatre, Evoke, (Kirklees cultural education partnership) , Woven (Kirklees textiles festival) and Our Biennale (Kirklees arts festival for children and young people).
The Piazza area has recently had many empty shops but due to Kirklees Councils commitment to supporting arts activities and organisations in Kirklees many of the empty units now house theatre groups, artists and us! We are thrilled to be a part of it.
We are already offering Saturday drop-in sessions for all ages and Little Art Club for pre-schoolers from the space with lots more to come. Watch this space!
