As well as our fabulous swarms of buzzing bees our older groups made their very own flying machines alongside The Children’s Art School Director Chloe Williams who was commissioned to make her own fantastical flying machine.
Using willow and tissue paper the groups started by creating wings or balloons:
Then used junk modelling to create wearable structures:
Great work, loads of fun and the kids really embraced the theme of fantastic flying machines that probably won’t work!
Chloe’s flying machine was inspired by illustrator Ronald Searle’s drawings for Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines and despite the wind and with help from Dave Young (who made the amazing parade fly) it didn’t take off!!
